Ilunion Hotels inaugurates the hotel Ilunion San MamésThe new building is located in the Bilbao Intermodal station. The establishment is the first in the community to be managed as a special employment centre, in which more than 85% of workers have a disability of some kind.

With this opening, the hotel chain strengthens its presence in the Basque Countrywhere it already has two hotels, the Ilunion Bilbao and the Ilunion San Sebastian, the latter already operational after its recent incorporation into the company.

The Ilunion San Mamés is an urban hotel of four stars with 168 roomsSix of which have been designed to be fully accessible for the needs of people with reduced mobility. In addition, its 11 floors have large meeting rooms, a cafeteria, breakfast area, internet access point and different common areas.

Located in one of the busiest areas of the city, It is close to the main tourist attractions, such as the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao's Gran Vía and the new San Mamés stadium, among others.

Accessible and sustainable

The hotel is equipped with the latest technology to ensure the best possible service. efficient and sustainable energy consumption. It has LED lighting, presence detectors in communal areas, air-conditioning system without refrigerant gases to avoid emissions into the atmosphere and domestic hot water by aerothermal energy with waste heat recovery system.

The building also has a general control system that warns of any faults in the operation of the equipment and allows for telematic control and revision. In addition, both the façade and the building envelope are fitted with high-performance rock wool thermal insulation.

Fully accessible for people with disabilitiesThe staircase is equipped with technical aids such as a magnetic loop, wheelchairs for customers who need them, a fire alarm with audible signals, a luminous alarm clock, a counter suitable for serving customers with reduced mobility, adapted furniture, contrasted sections in the staircase areas to make it easier for the visually impaired to find them, etc.

The hotel will be managed by Álvaro Díaz Muníocurrent director of Ilunion Bilbao. Díaz Munío holds a Higher Diploma in Hotel Management and Business Management from the School of Hotel Management in the Biscayan capital and has more than 20 years of experience in the management of tourist accommodation.
